He was born in Mersin on September 23, 1975. He completed his undergraduate education at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. After graduating from medical school in 2000, he started working as an assistant at Yedikule Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Training and Research Hospital and became a thoracic surgeon in 2005. He then worked as an operating physician at Gülhane Military Medical Academy and later worked at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital for 11 years.
Erdoğu returned to Yedikule Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Hospital in 2018, where he continued his surgical duties and received the title of associate professor in 2022. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Volkan Erdoğu currently continues his work at Yedikule Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Training and Research Hospital, providing his patients with the best treatment with the most up-to-date methods.

Yedikule Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery EAH, which has been providing health services with the same determination and excitement for 74 years in order to make the healthiest touch to people's lives; is a huge family of 1453 people in total with 184 physicians, 353 nurses and 916 healthcare professionals. The hospital has 406 beds, 38 intensive care beds and 6 operating room tables. Acting with the motto of providing qualified and high-quality service, Yedikule Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery EAH established public relations and patient rights units in 2014. The hospital also carries out information activities for patient guidance and patient accompaniment in order to help patients' relatives. In 2023, the hospital; More than 600,000 outpatient clinic services, more than 250,000 emergency health services, 15,000 bronchoscopies, 5,000 surgeries (1,564 of which are Group A), 20,000 inpatient treatment services, 2,000 TTIA and 700 sleep service admissions were performed.
